File Preparation

Here are a few things to consider before submitting artwork.

ACCEPTED FILE TYPES

Vector files created in Adobe Illustrator are our most preferred file type. Before saving – make sure that the file is 100% to scale & all type is converted to outlines. Any embedded raster images must be at least 400 dpi (resolution).

COLOR SEPARATION

Before saving, please separate different colors onto different layers within the program. This is especially important because colors are printed individually to make up the overall image.

ONLY USE PHOTOSHOP?

99% of the time we do not accept photoshop (.psd) files for printing. These are raster (pixel) based files & will not output with perfect precision through the screen set up process. To achieve the best possible product, please take a moment to discuss this with your designer before starting any given project.

WHEN DO WE ACCEPT PHOTOSHOP?

The only case we accept a photoshop (.psd) file is when the image is meant to have a photographic element to it. In this case please submit your file at 100% to scale at 300-400 dpi (resolution).

PANTONE MATCHING

We match colors using Pantone Matching System (spot colors). This is a world-wide used color language used to match any color exactly. If you aren’t sure what specific color you’re looking for, please refer to our basic ink color guide or buy a physical Pantone book to find the color you’re looking for. Need help matching a color? Feel free make an appointment to come by the shop to pick a color or mail us a physical sample of the color you prefer.

SENDING LARGE FILES

You may email us files if they’re less than 10MB. For quick delivery of larger files, send us a link through Dropbox.com & we’ll receive easily & without error.
